13 kids shortlisted from each club (Chennaiyin FC and Kerela Blasters) in the grassroots scouting efforts got selected in the Football camp organised by Reliance.
The brightest young talents from all the Indian Super League (ISL) clubs cities assemble at Mumbai to have a shot at the prestigious scholarship provided by Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC). This selection camp will be the third batch of residential football scholarship and is set to kick off from May 2. Campaign will end on May 8.
80 youngsters who got selected will look top prove a point under the mentorship of Piet Hubers, technical director of the Grassroots Development Programme for the ISL and Mark Vaessen, head coach of the Reliance Foundation Young Champs.
Following are the number of young budding footballers shortlisted from each ISL club:
The 80 shortlisted candidates will be hosted at Reliance facility in Mumbai and will take part in theoretical sessions in the form of seminars in tandem with practical sessions that will test their technical ability, fitness and skills etc. during the five days of intensive training beginning May 2, 2017 at Fr. Agnels, Vashi.
RFYC, one of the excellent sports development programme in the country, currently hosts 41 Young Champs selected over the last 2 years and has provided them various exposure trips and competitive opportunities in India and abroad. This includes a 12 days exposure trip to train and compete with nine Premier League academies of Manchester united, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Reading, Aston Villa, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion.
Let us hope that this campaign gets the best output and Indian Football gets bolstered at the Grassroot level.
