In the group D of 2018 World Cup Qualifiers, the two bottom sides will play for pride and hope. As, both the teams are looking for a win and climb up the standings of the group and keep up the hope alive of qualifying in the further stages of 2018 World Cup Qualifiers. Turkmenistan have 1 point out of 3 games and are placed at the 4th spot. Meanwhile, India have lost each of the three games they have played so far and are at the last rank (5th spot) of the group. However, India will approach the game with the positive mentality and fearlessly as they have nothing to lose. India will need to win or atleast pick a draw against Turkmenistan in order to keep the hopes alive though, it wont be that easy for the men in blue as Turkmenistan played out an impressive 1-1 draw with a better side Iran. India will go in this fixture under prepared as All India Football Federation (AIFF) did not call a training camp and the ISL players were released by the respective clubs only on Sunday evening for the national duty.
Stephan Constantine was asked about Turkmenistan to which he said
"We are aware of the difficult task at hand. Turkmenistan had a fantastic result against Iran. It speaks about the ability and determination of the team," he said.
"Iran are a super power in Asia and we always respect a team which managed to get a point from them. So we expect a very difficult game. The past may be hinting at something different but Turkmenistan are a much improved side in the last few years," he added.
